Artifacts of 2020

Calling all midwestern artists.

Lost Dog Gallery in Indianapolis, IN is looking for submissions for their show titled “Artifacts of 2020” in which we wish to explore the year 2020 with the curiosity of future historians. What objects may someday find themselves in a museum exhibit about the year 2020? Submissions do not need to be sculptural (but are welcome to be). Photos, paintings, collages, sculptures, screenprints etc. about the subject “Artifacts of 2020” are welcome! A bedazzled face shield would be welcome right next to photographs of BLM protests, next to a fort built out of Amazon boxes.

This is a regional show open to artists living/working and/ or quarantining in the midwest. For this show, the midwest includes Illinois, Indiana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Missouri, Ohio, Kansas, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.

All artworks must have either been created in 2020 or in January of 2021. The deadline to apply is January 15 by 11:59pm. Artists will be contacted on January 17th about their acceptance. A submission fee of $10 will cover the cost of three image submissions. These can be images of different artworks or views of the same artwork. We, as a small, independent gallery ourselves, understand times are tough right now for artists. That is why we wish to have a low submission fee. If the $10 fee prohibits you from submitting your work, you will have the option to pay $5. If you are able to help support a fellow artist, you will have the option to pay $15 to cover your submission fee and half of another artist’s submission fee. The money goes toward supporting the gallery, promoting the show, and allowing us to have more appointment slots so that people may safely view the show in person.

The show will run through the month of February at Lost Dog Gallery and may be viewed in person by appointment. The show will also be available virtually on the Lost Dog Gallery Website.
